Iraq memorial, Old North Church
At Shrewsbury Cathedral, in England, above the stones in the floor covering people who died in 1332, is a sign saying that after service, the coffee volunteers serve free trade coffee from Central America. I love signs that show a historic place is still active and part of the modern community.
Behind the Old North Church is their children's memorial for members of the US military who have died in Iraq. The kids are making crosses and six-pointed stars, and have even made a crescent, with the name and dates of birth and death for people who have died in the recent war.
