1941 Willys Americar 441 Coupe Hotrod

Facing bankruptcy in 1908, John Willys bought the Overland Motor Car Company. In 1912 the company was renamed the Willys-Overland Motor Company. Willys-Overland, best known for producing the military Jeep.

The Willys 77 was introduced in 1934. A new streamlined body in 1937, headlamps integrally embedded into the fenders, and a one-piece, rounded hood transversely hinged at the rear. The 77 was renamed Overland in 1939 and later to become the Americar in 1941 and was produced until 1942

Models available in 1941 were;

The 441 Deluxe, 2 door Coupe, Wagon and 4 door Sedan

The 441 Plainsman, 2 door Coupe, Wagon and 4 door Sedan

The 441 Speedway, 2 door Coupe and 4 door Sedan

Original engine; 63hp 134 cu in Go Devil 4 cyl

Critical four-cylinder engine failures, lack of reposition parts and the sheer lack of assistance from Willys turned many Americars into perfect targets for the nascent hot rod community
