Foss Tenement Block, Auburn, ME: 4th Floor Parlors
An interior view of the 1890s apartment building in Auburn that I documented, prior to its demolition. All three of the floors above the street level originally had three enfiladed rooms along the front, connected by these arched openings. Only the top floor retained the original pattern.
As you can see from the light on the floor, it was a brilliantly sunny day, with no electricity in the building to provide artificial lighting that would balance off the bright natural light. Fortunately, TMY has a very nice range, and allowed for plenty of detail in the shadows of the room in the foreground.
