Amsterdam 683: first yellow tram ever (in black & white).

After a long period of the famous two tone grey color schemes on the articulated trams, GVB 683 was the first one to be introduced in a new and fresh yellow experimental livery. This was eventually the choise of the GVB company. After test withs several layers of paint in red, grey, white and yellow. Later the livery was slightly changed and adapted on all the other ones for several years. In their last days (around the millenium) a majorirty of these tramcars were painted in white and blue (as the Combino nowadays).

Next to 683 you see "stuurstromer" 666 still in his greay coat.. Amsterdam, Stationsplein - April 30 , 1971
