1990: Pam Roach was first elected to the Senate in 1990. In 2000 Senator Roach and Rep. Dan Roach became the first mother/son duo to represent the same district at the same time. Senator Roach represented the U.S. in East Timor for the International Republican Institute and is founder of an NGO in Honduras. Senator Roach chaired the Government Operations and Election Committee (’03-’04) during the height of Washington’s election law reform. As Judiciary chair (‘01-‘02) she authored landmark bills on juvenile justice and DUI. Senator Roach chaired the Children and Family Services Committee (’91-’92) and continues to advocate for children.
