Some of the collection of well-preserved old stone turf-roof houses near the shore on the outskirts of the Húsavík municipality on the island of Sandoy in the Faroe Islands. The rusty object in front of the near house is a deactivated WW2-era German mine, which are still found from time to time in the waters around the Faroes. The islands were technically a German holding during the war, as the Germans occupied Denmark, but the islands themselves were occupied by and cooperated with British forces throughout the war.
