detail · Hōzōmon · Sensō-ji

Detail of one of two lanterns hanging at Hozomon the second gate of Senso-ji.

Hozomon had been burned down several times in the past, most recently in 1945 during the war despite having survived 1923 Great Kanto earthquake. It was once again beautifully reconstructed in 1964 with the help of Hotel New Otani founder Mr. Otani.
