Little wasp

  • terraincognita96 4y

its a Crabronidae wasp. That emargination of the inner orbits visible here is known in Philanthus (not in Australia), Trypoxylon (very slender build) and Pison (more compact).
This might be Pison westwoodii, known from eAustralia including TAS.
Compare a related species. Pison are hunters of small spiders.

Thanks for the ID, tags and links. The paper about the nests of the Australian species was very interesting. They seem to like to be near water and this one was taken on a leaf in the pond.
