The Honeycomb Cowfish is a member of the Boxfish family. All of these fish have rigid bodies made up of bony plates which cover them entirely except for the stomach. The only flexible part is the tail. Nature protects these slow, gentle fish by outfitting them with sharp spikes front and rear. Normally shy these Cowfish show interest in my camera. Cowfish are highly chromatophoric so they can change color rapidly, usually yellow to blue. Tom McDowell, photographed in Grace Bay, TCI. World Commision on Protected Areas
