A Sudden Silence
For weeks you’ve had ideas swirling around your head, possibilities presenting themselves as an offering to your calling. One tugs at you more diligently than the rest. It catches your eye. You move forward to see it in better lighting. As you step, it whispers into the air. You strain your ears to catch the words, but they have spread too far above you to reach.
Still it tries again, and this time you can make out sound vibrations. They are closer, but still out of understanding. The need to know your destiny presses tighter against your ribs, and the urgency releases from your torso through your throat as you beg for answers. Panting, the energy is drained from your body, yet you listen for the voice once more.
This time, there is no connecting call. This time, you are met with silence.
