Belemedik, German Cemetery EBSK5

This monument (built from the ruins of the German cemetery in Hacikiri) was dedicated to members of the Eisenbahn-Bau-Sonder-Kompanie 5 (railway special construction company 5).

The memorial plate show three names. All three men are not buried here but have been moved in the 80s from Hacikiri to Tarabya where they rest until today.

In 2004, the German Honorary Consul Dr. Kisacik bought land and opened a "German cemetery" on it. This "cemetery" was opened on September 30, 2005.

I was not able to find out why the German Honorary Consul Teyfik Kisacik and the head of the local historical association Ahmet Nadir İşisağ removed the memorial stones from Hacikiri and re-errected them in Belemedik.

The ruins of the real cemetery and monument in Hacıkırı were not renovated but have been badly vandalised. Meanwhile, trees have been growing over the site in Hacikiri. Photos of the ruins are posted in the same set.
