Community Based Medical Home

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center official opened its Community Based Medical Home in Harker Heights, Texas, in a ribbon cutting ceremony May 17. Brig. Gen. Joseph Caravalho (right), commander of the Southern Regional Medical Command at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, is assisted by Harker Heights Mayor Mike Mullen (next to Caravalho); Harker Heights Medical Home Group Practice Manager Noel Webster (left); CRDAMC Commander Col. (Dr.) Steven Braverman (second from left); and Chief Warrant Officer Jesse Tait, his wife Sarena and son Oliver, the first family to enroll at the Harker Heights clinic. The clinic is one of three Medical Homes to open in local communities for families of Fort Hood Soldiers. The Army has opened 17 such homes in 11 communities across the continental U.S. and Hawaii as part of its initiative to provide Soldiers and their families with convenient, patient-focused healthcare throughout the Army medical system.
