British soldiers of World War One - The 21st Battalion, London Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles) - Note, front row 2nd from left is George Henry Kemp ( sitting, arms crossed & pipe in mouth )

.

....................... One of the best ' soldier group photo's ' i have seen .....................

.

I wonder if the ' original ' photograph still exists?

The actual postcard is more detailed than the scan shows.

A scan of a photographic postcard from WWI showing a group of soldiers from the First Surrey Rifles - 21st Battalion - London Regiment

Its really fine, such detail... so many ' characters '.

So much ' life ' in this photo.

The actual postcard is more detailed than the scan shows.

This photo is so very unusual in that its not a RIGID standard group photo... many of the soldiers are very relaxed. Its very informal.

Looking at the photo, at all the individual faces, individual characters.... one cant help but feel like you know one or two, because they look like everyday lads.

....................... I wonder what happened to them during the war ......................
