Made by William Edney of Bristol in 1715, one of the greatest of English wrought iron makers of the 18th century. The swan crowning the central panel is the emblem of the Guise family, whose ancestors came over with the Norman Conquest, and whose decendants have lived in Gloucestershire since the 11th century
