Number of Trips By Service Type

This pie chart shows the number of Amtrak trips I've taken based on the service type of the trip.

A "trip" counts as one boarding.

The first category counts trains running exclusively on the Northeast Corridor (the Northeast Regional and Acela).

The second category counts other Corridor Trains, which I define as a route with multiple frequencies daily.

The third category, Short-Haul, includes day trains operating once per day (the Carolinian, the Palmetto).

The fourth category shows the overnight Long-Distance trains.

Example: Of all the trips I've taken on Amtrak, 40% were on the Northeast Corridor.
