Main Road To Saddleworth...

Taken at the same location as this but after the snow had melted.

More from the archive.. Hadn't processed these two but thought I'd bring them out to see the light of day...

Fingers crossed for getting out and taking some new shots some time soon!

The sad thing about this photo is that this is the stretch of road that the Moor Murderers (Ian Brady and Myra Hindley) buried the bodies of their young victims.

View LARGE On Black. I promise it looks better! :D

Thanks guys. In some ways this is one of my favourite areas but in others it's not. It was close to where this photo was taken that Ian Brady and Myra Hindley buried the bodies of their young victims.

Nice! Great atmosphere. I know what you mean about places like this being a favourite area but for the right reasons, it's a real Wuthering Heights sort of place.
  • Joe Cooke 6y

    so nice

    Thanks Ian, PM and Joe!

It's not long since they closed all the roads up there thinking they'd found one of the missing bodies.. Turned out to be sheep bones!
  • Stephen Walder PRO 6y

The area over the style in this image and across Wessenden Moor, has to be one of the bleakest places I've ever encountered. After about a mile, the path just stops and leaves you to pick your way over peat bogs. Beautiful and desolate in equal measure. I think there is a shrine somewhere out there where one of the bodies was found. Not sure if it's there still.

It is an awfully bleak photo-look at those baleful clouds..
  • Steve Haddican PRO 5y

Nice shot Gary, good exposure on the sky, gives a nice dramatic effect.
  • Charlotte Brett PRO 5y

A nice composition and I like the sun shining through the moody clouds, well captured.

Thanks Steve and Charlotte. I think it reflects a style of processing that I tend to try and avoid a little these days but I still like it.. Maybe time to revisit that site...
