In April, I took a nettle foraging & cooking class with chef Becky Selengut and ecologist Jeanette "Jet" Smith. (Jet is a former pro chef - she and Becky met while working at The Herbfarm.)
The outing took us to Vashon Island for foraging at a couple spots and a stop at a farm stand. We then ferried back over to West Seattle for lunch at Spring Hill, and returned to Becky's place for a cooking class.
The day was fantastic, with everything perfectly organized and provided for the class attendees, including foraging gloves, a delicious trail mix, and (somewhat unexpectedly considering the spring we've been having) a sunshiny day. I am not 100% sure how they arranged that last part, but I recognized I couldn't expect them to share ALL their foraging secrets.
And speaking of, I'm putting together this album as I've found as I learn more about botany, looking at pictures helps me retain info I learn out in the field, but please do not forage based on this info alone: learn from a real-live person who knows what they're doing.
