Hanalei Bay Light
Hanalei Bay – Kauai – Hawaii

Even though this was not a photography shooting trip, I was able to find time to go out and shoot during sunrise. The amazingly cool thing was the beach house I was staying at was literally just steps from here, so I would get up early each morning and walk across the rain-soaked lawn to the beach.
My intention is to attempt to convey each scene I photograph as originally as possible, so I chose this particular morning to shoot a series of images at thirty seconds each to use for a panorama. The light at Hanalei Bay can be magical, as it was on this particular morning and I wanted to present an image that showcased as much of that light as possible.
The wide field of view has given a false curvature to the scene; however the pier boardwalk lines up perfectly with the water-land line, helping to restore overall image composition balance.
