BEWARE THE Roux-Ga-Roux!!
Meet the legendary Roux-Ga-Roux (pronounced rooguroo). His tale and legend span over 100s of years in my culture and state. He is often described very similarly as a werewolf. Throughout Louisiana history mama's have been scaring the daylights out of their misbehaving children with this monster. Roux-Ga-Roux have been known to hunt and eat Catholics who do not follow Lent or behave in (insert any bad behavior here as you will ...) bad way.
Here is a wiki site that explains this legend better then I could!
Our zoo set up a Roux-Ga-Roux enclosure in the Swamp section of the park. I know its been there at least 25 years that I can remember and still..even when I was there the other day... I turned the corner and jumped as it startled me HA HA
Any local can tell you how they have been startled once or twice by this figure when making the corner into the alligator area! For us older folks it brings back traumatizing stories on how if we don't eat our peas the Roux-Ga-roux will come eat us while we are asleep in our beds!!!!
I tried to keep the lighting as much as it looks in real life. Since it is nothing more then an Halloween decoration, they keep the lighting very low and red to make it appear more realistic. I say they did a good job! After 25 years of hanging out there, folks still jump and gasp or scream!
