Seems unusual for something like this being so neglected.

Remember when my Dad had one of these - wasn't impressed until I got in it - superb ride and only car I was never travel sick in has a kid! It also had a low number registration and reason given was that many were ex-council VIP transport cars and they gave them distinctive registrations?

Certainly sounds plausible. 20 of the later Wolseley "wedges" from 1975 were used as transport for Government ministers, they had consecutive number plates 1 to 20.

It looks like it's stood there for years?

Had a look in one of these recently, but the smell, oh the smell of a proper old car.

      - That's good news - it needed saving !

    11. fannyfadams 31 months ago | reply

Has it been saved or just removed because it was on the road?

Sorry just noticed Bramm's post, and the car is taxed.

      Hey,

I am the owner. It was a bit neglected but always cared for and maintained as best I could. Not being defensive, just reassuring you.

Was Googling images of Wolseley 18/85s because - as it needs about 1.5k of repairs - I've decided to sell it. Sad, because it was bought new by my great grandfather in 1967.

Anyway, if anyone fancies it, it's with a garage in East Sussex. Email me at michaeljflexerATgmail.com. And it comes with the licence plate ;-)

Nice story! Sad that you had to sell it. Hopefully the car has a good future.
