2017 Grawemeyer Lecture
On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, Grawemeyer Religion Award winner Gary Dorrien presented the annual Grawemeyer Lecturre at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. In addition to his Grawemeyer Lecture, Dorrien gave a presentation with Simmons College President Kevin Cosby. He also taught a class at Louisville Seminary, presented at a special faculty luncheon and formally received his Grawemeyer Award at a reception, which took place at the J.B. Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. Dorrien won the Grawemeyer award for his book, "The New Abolition: W.E.B. DuBois and the Black Social Gospel." The Grawemeyer Religion Award is given jointly with the University of Louisville.
