People buy the most unexpected photographs
A few days ago an Italian writer contacted me and wished to use a "Berlin in Black & White" photograph for an article in an italian magazine. Of course, he would "credit me". I´ve gotten many e-mails like this and my general reply is, "I am a photographer and I live from my work. Do you write your article just for credit? Is your magazine sold to people?".
So he wrote back with a proposal, I wrote back, he paid me through Paypal, and I sent him the photo.
I´ve sold several photos through Flickr, dealing directly with the buyers, which earn me much more than stock photo sites. It´s difficult because there is so much competition and many amateurs with great photos who are happy to see their photos used or in print who will give them away free . . . (I know because I did several in the beginning).
