South Yorkshire Fire Service prided itself on its specialist rescue team known as the Technical Rescue Unit. Since 2000 the unit has progressively grown with additional equipment, vehicles and even a state-of-the-art specialist training centre. With the equipment being quite large, an additional vehicle, this Mitsubishi L200, was purchased in 2008, WN58KWV would be sent to all incidents along with the Incident Support Unit. In 2010, the vehicle was replaced by a bigger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter which allowed even more kit to be carried. However, with funding cuts, the unit has now been de-commissioned however training has been wide-spread across the entire service now.
