VIRTUAL REALITY AT DOE'S KANSAS CITY PLANT ALLOWS ENGINEERS TO SEE INSIDE DESIGNS.

THE "IMMERSION ROOM" AT THE KANSAS CITY PLANT, A NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION FACILITY, CAN IMPROVE THE COMPREHENSION OF COMPLEX DESIGNS AND ANALYSIS. THE ROOM IS EQUIPPED WITH A 14 FOOT WIDE BY 6 FOOT HIGH REAR PROJECTION SCREEN. USERS CAN WEAR A HEAD MOUNTED DISPLAY WHICH WORKS WITH ULTRASONIC TRACKERS TO CREATE A VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN IMPROVED PRODUCT AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS, WHILE REDUCING ITERATIONS AND CYCLE TIME.
