What a dashing chap, and just as determined as he was handsome.

You're a gifted archivist! Not just a name, relationship and date but his amazing, if tragic, story. My family albums - which I once had posted before account problems and a computer crash - are ok, but not as dramatic!

thank you for your kind comment. Though I attached family histories only to a few relatives' photos, if I'd do it to all of them, it must have been a whole book.
I'm sure most of the families have their history and fate in this part of Europe, and I have to tell you they are never boring, rather adventurous!

very nice studio portrait! He appears to be a Oberleutnant (Fohadnagy) (2 golden stars on his collar).

Thank you! I'm going to learn the military ranks slowly! :o)
He had a very interesting life and a sad but brave end.
His obit card says he was a commander in 1919 when he died, I don't know what does it mean exactly.
A captain with three stars on collar?
