      I remember seeing this car in the late 60's in NY. Have not seen one again in many decades.

      At a glance, it looks just like my 1968 Chrysler Newport (my first car), except much more dressed-up.

      These were intended to compete against the LTD, but ran into the problem of having similarly priced, though admittedly somewhat less fancy Newports and Newport Customs in the same showroom. I strongly suspect that buyers were steered into Chryslers, salesmen touting the extra prestige of the name for a similar price. Ford and Chevy didn't have this issue with the LTD and Caprice.
