Through the gates
The NSW Rail Transport Museumthis weekend celebrated its 50th birthday. It marked the occasion by running a double header steam train from Sydney to the museum at Thirlmere.
One of the locomotives, former express locomotive the 4-6-0 3642is seen arriving at Thirlmere and passing through the level crossing gates. Similar gates could once be found throughout the rail network, but except for this restored set have disappeared in Nsw.
