Red Roof Inn, Dublin, Ohio

Red Roof Inns were started in Columbus, Ohio by Jim Trueman in 1972, who coined the catchy slogan "Sleep Cheap." The Dublin hotel was part of a larger expansion that occurred in the early 1980s. Trueman was a racecar enthusiast who fell to cancer in 1986 at age 51. The company has changed ownership several times, including ownership by by French hotel conglomerate Accor (which operates Motel 6). The company is now owned by private equity and is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
