J Lyons - "Lyons Nippy" - Corner House waitress, 1932

Newer Older

How famous were the Lyons Nippies - the waitresses who served in the famous and much-missed Corner House tea rooms run by the company. This was the uniform introduced in 1925 and the one most likely recalled by people who fondly remember the tea rooms.

    Hi Mikey
Given your interest in J Lyons, here's a sign I came across the other day, in Margate:-

Admittedly it doesn't suggest much of what it was that used to be there.

Hi Mikey, Do you have any information about this image? I have noticed that this photograph was used for the packaging for the Nippy Sandwich on this page: www.kzwp.com/lyons/nippy.htm and was wondering who she is? This isn't the image released in 1925 of the uniform, that was Anna Neagle. If you have any information about who this lady is I would greatly appreciate it for my dissertation. Thanks! Aimee
