Menu card for the Beaufort Restaurant, Abercorn Rooms, Great Eastern Hotel, Liverpool Street station, London by Eric Fraser for the British Transport Commission Hotels, c1955

A reminder of the days when British Railways ran a large chain of hotels - a consequence of many of the constituent companies having set up hotels as part of their 'package' - and in the 1950s British Transport Hotels had a very high standard of publicity and advertising, as did the British Transport Commission. This very fine and colourful menu card cover is by Eric Fraser. The Abercorn Rooms were part of the large Great Eastern Hotel that still, in a form, exists adjacent to London Liverpool Street station.
