London Underground, Piccadilly Circus station, Bakerloo line cross-over, photography by Maurice Beck, c1934
A fine photo by a famous photographer, Maurice Beck. LT didn't make too much use of photography in their advertising but this was for a poster. It shows one of the few visible crossovers on the deep tube network, this being from the Bakerloo line platforms at Piccadilly Circus - in the days when we lit trackwork adjacent to platforms (as at Aldgate East) although to my eye this scene has been enhanced with additional lighting. The image is from an article on half-tone reproduction processes.
