Rhubarb and Raspberries

Story and recipe on my blog.

This is the simplicity itself, yet so catchy with its colors, so soft and so feminin. Great light, just the exact right amount touches the white surface, not too harsh.

I like the curve composition of this picture, the opposite placement of your rhubarb make the picture more dynamic, smooth and active which led a quality of movement that makes this picture interesting and not too mention the burst color of red against the white surface also adding the succesful element in the whole pic.

The harmonization of color also played nicely from the dark red gradually to more red orange to creamy brown color that presented by the eggs.

For me, I might lower the placement of your raspberry bowl little bit and change the bowl of the sugar to smaller size just to make a breath space to the picture.

    Thanks, all!

Atlanticstar I appreciate your feedback and see your points about the bowls of berries and sugar. Will keep in mind for next time =)

I though, you were doing the pink editon :D...
I like the subtle of the light, it is so smooth and make your rhubarb being the star. I agree with Atlanticstar about the distance of sugar.

    Thanks, Leemei and Asri!

Asri - I actually tried some shots at the time with the sugar further back and they didn't look good but I think a smaller dish like Atlanticstar may have worked. Thx for the feedback -- always appreciated!

Lovely composition. I like the white background to emphasize the beautiful colors.

Oh, loving the light here, Xiaolu! Very clean and fresh feeling. Love raspberries wish I could say the same about rhubarb. I have never cooked it myself but the 3 times I've had it were enough to put me off all together!

I'm curious what it was about the rhubarb that put you off? I've never had it except pureed or baked into something. I love the tartness so far!

Oh, I forgot the very first time I had it, it was absolutely divine! It was at an upscale restaurant, I can't remember what exactly I'd ordered, it was over 9 years ago.. rhubarb and white chocolate... but all I remember is I'd polished it off and that was the first time I'd ever tasted rhubarb. I'd told my then boyfriend now husband I love rhubarb! I was looking forward to trying more dishes but sadly it went downhill after that. I've had it in crumble, in a pie and tart, they all tasted very bitter in spite of all the sugar to cover the bitterness. I've never cooked it myself though and the last time I had it was at a little coffee shop in Dublin, Ireland 4 years ago!
