Mexican Tea Cakes

I had a lot of trouble with lighting and color balance for this shot and still am not very happy with it. Not yet used to the shorter days yet and keep running out of light for my recent shoots. I guess it's a lesson learned for next time :). Also, I had no idea so many people would think these were mochi LOL.

Story and recipe on my blog.

i like the shot, actually, especially the muted-ness of the pinks and purples.

I agree with Stephanie! Love the pink n purples.

It looks nice to me though. Love the soft colors here.
It would be nice if you add ribbon for this shot.

I think it looks nice, maybe a little added brightness would help some of the colors pop a bit more, but overall it's a nice soft feminine image.

Have fun in Florida visiting your sisters, they are lucky to have an older sis. who brings them treats!

Its a good photograph, and I liked the arrangement in the centre. But I feel having all 4 corners occupied is perhaps taking away from the composition? Maybe you could have taken out the plate at the upper right and rearranged the 3 cakes at the top and removed the empty one on the bottom left? Just an idea.

    Thanks for your thoughts, all!

Steph, I actually reprocessed it to be more saturated and contrasted. Hope it still looks okay to you :).

Tika, thank you. I agree a ribbon would have been very fitting with the gift theme.

Sylvie, as I said above to Steph, I reprocessed it. Partly to make the colors stand out more. Hope it's along the lines you were thinking.

Aparna, good point about the corners. My original composition idea had more space at the corners, but the angle didn't come out as I'd hoped so I cropped the photo a bit and the corners ended up being filled. Thanks for the idea =).

I like the lighting here, I find it just right. I like the girlie colours, the purple and the pink shades with the tea cakes in the centre, it's a fun setting!

    woooow... yummy!

I like it. Light changes by the second, so I don't believe there is such a thing as bad natural lighting; you just have to adjust your readings and reset accordingly.
