Phyllo Pie with Eggs and Winter Greens

    Newer Older

Story and recipe on my blog. My pie came out a bit crumbly, I think, because my phyllo pastry was old. Will use fresher phyllo next time :).

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I wasn't satisfied with the color balance so I swapped the original photo out for a slightly different shot of the same thing.

MИLOŠ and PaintpotsandDaydreams added this photo to their favorites.

Ooo, I love all the flakes. Are the eggs baked whole inside?

Oh, I like this one, Xiaolu! Beautiful lighting, love the golden flakes and the egg yolk in the middle. Very pretty mess!

Xiaolu, I have a principle of not commenting anything with fish, meat or eggs, if they are visible in the image. It's because of the suffering the entities had to endure in order to end up on a plate. If I don't see them, I just pretend they are not there :-) Sorry about that! So, I'm grossly editing what I'm seeing here, because I wanted to say something nice to you: I really like your wooden plate and the natural color theme. Your angle serves the plate very well. Also, the scatterness is lively.

      Thanks, everyone!

Sylvie - the eggs are soft-boiled first, then baked in the pie. I'm actually surprised they were still runny. I may hard-boil them next time.

Asri - it was surprisingly delicious! I was afraid the bitterness of the kale would be a problem but it was a wonderful balance of all the flavors.

      Aisha - Thank ya!

Laksmi - I certainly respect your policy and appreciate your explanation. How very nice of you to make this exception to leave me those nice comments. Thank you! I actually eat very little meat (only a little seafood) though I do eat dairy and eggs regularly. Still, you shouldn't have to avoid my images too often.
