Beautiful colours and composition set against the out of focus light background. Great shot.

Ditto the colors. I don't think the background could be more complimentary to the bird. Soft and delicate. Beautiful

Beautiful capture...great pose, good perch, awesome BG, and the colors look very natural. Little catch-light in the eye and we're all done. Great job.

Stunning image, focus, exposure, and DOF are excellent; background couldn't be better. Bird cooperated nicely with a good pose and nature provided an appealing perch and the nice light.

Dieter, thanks for the crop suggestion--as I am "crop challenged".
This is full frame by the way, turned the camera vertical--which I noticed in the EXIF data it says horizontal. Am I misunderstanding what that refers to in the EXIF data?

By the way that's #@!$ snow in the background and I'd gladly sacrifice it and ship it to you guys enjoying your California and Florida weather! :) We New Englander's have had enough of winter!

I agree with the crop comment above.
The beautifull soft lighting works wonders and the snow on the branch is the perfect touch..

Delightful image! Its perfect exposure was done in front of a snow background -- often difficult to obtain. Lovely tones, sharp. Agree with the suggested crop.

Mary Fran - Check the menu in the camera to be sure Auto Rotate is ON. If it's not that, I'd suggest posting the problem to a forum devoted to the 30D or check with some of the people at the Canon Digital Photographers (Nature & Wildlife) Group at www.flickr.com/groups/86571410@N00/
