The Night at The Humber Bridge
Working away from home for a few days I was faced with the prospect of either spending an evening alone seeking out the highlights in Scunthorpe, or jumping in the car and finding something to photograph.
I did try Grimsby and Immingham and was about to give up when I decided to give the Humber Bridge a shot.
I parked up in the viewing area car park and in the drizzle walked up and down the bank taking the usual pictures, then I noticed that the bridge was being lit up and things got much more interesting.
I tried to ignore the sounds of someone doing 'donuts' in the car park, thankful it was not my car I was driving.
Eventually all was quiet and not realising the time I decided to call it a night. As I walked back along the river bank I noticed, by the car, was a lone figure with a large dog. In a defensive way I tried to look as big as I could, although at five foot six it ain't easy.
I was pretty much resigned to handing over my wallet when the man explained that he was waiting for me to let me out of the car park that he had just locked for the night. Phew!
Turned out to be a really nice guy and even his dog got smaller and friendlier.
So thanks to the lone figure, it could have turned out far worse than staying in Scunthorpe if I had to sleep in the car!
