鵂鶹 Collared Owlet (Collared Pygmy Owl)

鵂鶹，為台灣特有亞種，體長約 15 公分。頭圓而小，頭上無角羽，為台灣體型最小的貓頭鷹。常棲於附近有空曠地之林中或森林邊緣，夜間在山區曠野中常聽到其單調、連續兩節的鳴叫，有時在白晝或晨昏時分亦能聽到其鳴叫，在台灣為尚稱普遍之留鳥。鵂鶹雖是夜行性猛禽，日間亦活動，性極凶猛。

 

The Collared Owlet (Glaucidium brodiei) is a species of owl in the Strigidae family. It is found in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitat is temperate forests. It is the smallest owl in Asia, at 15 cm .

 

This owlet is nocturnal and crepuscular, meaning that it is active at night as well as during twilight and just before dawn. However, it often forages during the day.
