Peg Doll - Beamish Museum Collections

Peg dolls were exactly what they say they are – dolls made from pegs! Only rich families could afford porcelain dolls and a lot of children had to “make do”. Here is an example of traditional 'make do' creations from the Beamish Archive.

The Beamish Agricultural Show takes place from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th September. As part of this spectacular show, we would like to invite visitors to enter our Industry classes - one of which is crafts.

Why not give it a go by creating your own Beamish character? A Farmers wife, a Tram Driver, a Miner... There are lots to choose from!

Visit our website to find out more about these dolls and how to enter.
