wicked jealous

I am so jealous of the photographers out in the US southwest and all their arches and sandstone and crazy canyons. So this is my response. Go out and find a piece of driftwood and try to make it into a desert arch...

In retrospect, I should have made this in two parts so I could have kept the foreground in focus. But this was a bit of a challenge. I was running out of time with the sun getting above the horizon line. I didn't have the time to properly setup my tripod and I knew I was goiing to have to HDR this one (been so long since I've done a proper HDR. was kind of fun). So this is a 5 shot, long exposure handheld HDR. I am amazed it came out at all. I have this same subject in a vertical orientation that I like a bit better but it came out blurry as shit.

I am starting to run up against some limitations in the sigma 10-20mm that are beginning to bug me. Chromatic aberrations were off the chart on this shot and had to be cloned out in photoshop. I think I am getting spoiled by my nikon 2.8's...
