Adult Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus), Auburn, Alabama.
This bird perched on our fence post very near a bluebird house. It dropped to the ground ocassionaly dropped to the ground to eat what appeared to be land snails. A great sight for an early morning!

Hello Lew Scharpf from Alabama! I'm Yeo from Malaysia and I would like to add your photo to my website at www.yeo-y1.my to highlight a line from a book by Anna Quindlen entitled "A Short Guide to a Happy Life" since she wrote about the joy of just observing a red-shouldered hawk. It is my personal blog which I update quite regularly to share information on birdwatching in Malaysia, particularly Fraser Hill.
