Put your feet up at Talgarth Mental Hospital
Messing about with some of the Flickr Picnik ageing/sepia settings:
Looks like an old polaroid now.
Right in the heart of the former Asylum grounds between the admin building (under the clock tower) and the accomodation blocks.
Talgarth Mental Hospital was built between 1900 & 1903 to house the mentally ill patients of Mid Wales and the surrounding area. At its peak in 1955, it housed over 450 patients.
As more modern facilities started to open, the number of patients dwindled until its eventual closure in 1999..
The sprawling building complex is now in a state of disrepair after vandalism and theft, particularly the roof tiles that have led to much water damage.
