Arctic seaducks

Adult male King Eider Somateria spectabilis near Vardø in Finnmark, northern Norway 24 March 2013. Long-tailed Ducks Clangula hyemalis and more King Eiders can be seen in the background.

15-20 000 seaducks (mainly King and Common Eider) may be observed outside Vardø in Finnmark, Northern Norway in March. They gather in huge rafts, and feed in the area before heading off to the north or east during early April.
