Carpe Mundus

This tiny Ringed Plover is only a day old. It was photographed inside the oil refinery at Mongstad in western Norway in July 2006. The lowland population of Ringed Plovers in Hordaland county is quite small, while they breed fairly common in the mountains.

 

This picture won the title "Bird photograph of the year" in Hordaland in 2005.
