POEM: Nature Plants To Cherish A Loss... (IN GLOBAL WARMING)

8.28.2012 ( IN THE MIDST OF GLOBAL WARMING, I WANT TO PAY TRIBUTE TO A TREE - AND A STREAM THAT HAVE FACED THE HEAT - AND LAST YEAR'S HEAT DIDN't HELP THIS NEWLY HEWN TREE)

NATURE PLANTS TO CHERISH A LOSS

Greenery decks the browns of bark and water,

Heat-baked dirt is decked by green grass by Nature

The Mourner who cherishes a loss

As much as a man of a old village friend.

-- Elaine C. Hull

As I walk on a narrow dirt path on this side of Six-Mile Creek, S. Titus Ave., Ithaca, NY, I took some photos of the old trees still standing or, like this, "downed". One has amazing patterns of the shell - it was much older.
