Humbled by a three ingredient recipe.
If you count water as an ingredient. Each ham came with a little packet of spice mix. It was only when I was mostly done cooking these hams that I noticed that the packets had two very different sets of instructions. I had been mixing them up. Temperature from one and time from the other.
There's not much to it. You cook it at 225 for 12-15min/lb minus 30 minutes.. Bring three spice packages and 12 tbl water to a boil and coat the hams. Cook for 25-30 minutes more.
Or 250 for 10min/lb-30 and then 450 for 10-15 min.
Or you confuse the two and do 225 for 10min/lb-30. Let the ham get cold while you prepare the glaze. Then 450 for 18 minutes. Realize that you've mixed things up. Turn off the oven. Open the door. Close the door. Panic. Pretend the hams don't exist for a half hour while you check email. Come back to the kitchen and eat half a ham.
In the end, they looked better than they tasted. But I don't think they tasted bad. It's still ham. It's just that the crust exterior wasn't nice and crusty like it should be.
