Deadvlei Stars

After 4 adventure filled weeks, my epic sojourn through Africa and Asia has concluded. I was lucky enough to see amazing desert landscapes, stunning night skies, dense tropical rainforest, beautiful coastlines, African and Asian elephants, Pelicans, Lions and a whole bunch of other amazing sights, as well as meeting some great people along the way.

This is the night sky over Deadvlei, Namibia. Deadvlei (translates as "Dead Marsh") is a mind blowingly eerie and stunning white salt clay pan that formed over a thousand years ago. Due to climate changes that then occurred, drought hit the area, the marsh began dry out and the skeletons of trees that grew within preserved as relics of a different era. It was quite humbling to photograph this location. Surrounded by enormous, rusty-red sand dunes and filled with amazing textures, it really belies the imagination.
