Five times in two trips I've come to this location in the sleepy and remote village of Coles Bay on Tasmania's rugged east coast, hoping for the right light to grab a shot of this amazing vista. Each time I was unsuccessful. On my last morning on this trip, having spent the previous night out shooting the stars, I felt decidedly lacking in hope. As I got in my car and drove to the viewpoint, things got worse as I discovered I had a flat tyre and I was questioning my sanity in coming on this trip.
As if hearing my despondent thoughts, the photo gods suddenly decided to throw me some luck - as I ran on foot to the viewpoint overlooking the Hazards of Freycinet National Park, this amazing sunrise unfolded before me.
