When Agapanthus Runs Wild.

The sight of these garden escapees, growing all over Australia in the most unlikely places, always brings to mind the popular cartoons of Ken Maynard in the '70s and '8os. Typically Australian, they featured the Ettamogah Pub and, from time to time, a warning sign that advised, "Beware the Agapanthus, mate!" as if these striking blue flowers were dangerous, exotic wild animals.

These blooms had established themselves in a scrubby field near the entrance to a National Park in Brisbane.
