#15 Suburban Sprawl Development, Phase I at Branch Hill Farm
Documentation photographs of installation/performance, (crew, t-shirts, paint, wood, signage, brochures) 3 acres, 2003
Location: Milton Mills, NH
Phase I was a spoof of the ubiquitous housing development quickly spreading across southern New Hampshire. For this community event, volunteers staked out the footprints of houses and roads while engaging audience about issues of land use, ecological balance, development and green alternatives. Phase I was a community engagement piece intended to inspire people to recognize and discuss individual impact and responsibility. Audience reaction to this work was
strong, fun and resulted in initiating several conservation easements by private landowners to preserve open space.
