In response to the cholera outbreak in Haiti which has now killed more than 250 people and infected more than 3,000 EDV is working closely with our partners here, GrassRoots United, to facilitate community trainings and help stop the spread of this deadly disease.
Cholera is a water borne illness that can kill within hours. In the unsanitary, crowded conditions of the camps and slums where hundreds of thousands live in Port au Prince, cholera could spread very quickly and be extremely deadly.
Working with GrassRoots Untied we’re holding community health trainings which aim to educate at risk Haitians about how to avoid contracting cholera and what to do if they become sick.
The ultimate goal of these health trainings is to stop cholera’s spread before it takes hold in Port au Prince.
